Booking.com, Expedia and Agoda top the hotel bookings data for 2023 from leading private label hotel distribution specialist, Su.
Su, the cloud-based distribution platform for hotels that puts PMS providers in control with seamless online connectivity, unveiled its top online booking channels for 2023. Global online travel bookings giant, Booking.com maintained its stronghold, retaining its top spot from last year, as did Expedia. Agoda jumped up one spot to number three.
The number four spot on the list is held by Airbnb, one spot down from last year while direct bookings via Su continues to hold the number five spot.
“There is a preference for direct bookings globally since Covid, despite OTAs gaining ground,” says Franck Leprodhomme, Head of Sales – Su. “This channel represents value for guests as smart hoteliers continue to build up the attractiveness of the offers via their own website, being a more profitable booking channel for them.”
Regional channels, Traveloka and Trip.com are down by two spots but remain in the top 10 booking channel list. This is representative of hoteliers adopting a holistic commercial strategy that covers multiple channels and a diverse channel profile.
“Goibibo, Hotelbeds, tiket.com, Travelguruxml and Hooroo (Qantas) didn’t make the list of top 10 booking channels for 2023, but have made significant gains in terms of the revenue they bring to hotels,” says Franck. “Certainly not channels that should be left out of any holistic, high-performing hotel revenue strategy for accommodation providers based in the Asia region.”
Business bookings have made a strong comeback in 2023 after dismal Covid years. Representing these bookings, STAAH GDS jumped three spots to number seven and WebBeds, a global online marketplace for the travel trade, made its entry into the top 10 list with a spot at number six.
